Wyndham City lists three council chargers in Werribee, and they run at 22kW, 50kW and 60kW. That makes Werribee a good place to compare what public charging costs with what it costs at home before you decide on a wall charger.
Werribee's council chargers side by side
| Site | Rating | Bays | Rate | Time limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hunter Werribee Public Carpark, 22 Synnot Street | 22kW | 3 | 30c per kWh | 3 hours free parking |
| Wyndham Civic Centre, 45 Princes Highway | 50kW | 4 | 60c per kWh | 2 hours maximum |
| Lollypop Creek Community Centre, 86 Charlwood Promenade | 60kW | 2 | 60c per kWh | 2 hours maximum |
These are the rates on Wyndham City's EV charger page as we read it on 18 October 2026. The council also charges an idle fee of $1 a minute, starting 15 minutes after your charge ends and capped at $204.
The same kilowatt hour at home
Home charging is priced by your electricity plan. The Essential Services Commission sets the Victorian Default Offer each year as a benchmark. For the Powercor zone, which covers Werribee, from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 it works out like this (GST inclusive, usage rates only):
| Tariff | Cents per kWh |
|---|---|
| Flat | 28.22 |
| Time of use, peak | 41.67 |
| Time of use, off-peak | 22.49 |
| Time of use, solar soak | 17.26 |
The Victorian Default Offer determination lists every rate. It's a benchmark, and plenty of households pay something different, so use your own bill. The point is the gap: the same kilowatt hour can cost 60 cents at the Civic Centre and 22.49 cents at home on an off-peak tariff. We break the comparison down in home charging versus Wyndham's council chargers.
Werribee's homes
The 2021 Census counted 19,890 private dwellings in Werribee. 85.0% are separate houses and 13.8% are semi-detached or townhouses. A third of homes (33.3%) are rented. If you rent, talk to your landlord or property manager before booking anything, because a charger is fixed to the building.
Getting it installed
Powercor's planning report says its Werribee zone substation supplies the domestic and commercial area of Werribee. What your own board and supply can carry is a separate question, and our EV ready assessment answers it. Energy Safe Victoria says installation work must be done by a registered electrical contractor, and its Certificate of Electrical Safety guidance explains the paperwork you should receive.
