Smoke alarms should be tested every 6 months and batteries replaced annually (for battery-powered alarms). Photoelectric smoke alarms have a 10-year lifespan and must be replaced after that. As a landlord, it's your responsibility to ensure smoke alarms are functional. Many landlords engage us for bi-annual testing and maintenance.
What if my property already has smoke alarms?
If your existing smoke alarms are old ionisation type (rather than photoelectric), or if they're not in all required locations, or if they're not interconnected, you'll need upgrades to meet current legislation. We'll assess your current setup and advise what's required for compliance.
Can you provide ongoing electrical maintenance?
Yes. Many landlords and property managers use us for ongoing electrical maintenance including 6-monthly smoke alarm testing, repairs, and tenant-reported electrical issues. We can provide a quote for a retainer arrangement if you have multiple rental properties.
